this problem is on a laptop using wireless. new laptop dell with xp.

cant seem to find anything on this issue so turning to you all.

laptop like i said is using wireless and when you open outlook express even though the settings are set to check right away for mail it isnt. only way to get it to check is to click the send/receive down arrow and then click on the mail server variable. it then checks. settings are fine have setup up tons of o.e. and the workstation works just fine.

    any thoughts.

Are you sure that the Laptop is on line when this happens? I know that my Laptop takes a few seconds after Windows loads to establish a connection.

Yep, the broadcast computer icons show connection and we got on ie right away. your are right it does take a little for connection to be made but it doesnt want to auto check unless you force it like i stated.
