Are you sure those updates referred to Outlook Express 7 and not Internet Explorer 7?

Outlook Express 6 has reached the end of the line - it's successor (in Vista) is not 7, but Windows Mail.

If you were offered the updates then assume that you need them :)

    O.E.6/O.E.7 Updates

Maybe it was I.E. instead of O.E.
how do i find what version of Internet Explorer i have?? i use a blank page if i know the URL, otherwise i use Dogpile for 'searching'...
What a novel name in Vista, i have changed my Icon to "mail" long ago, and i Hear that Apple/Mac has long used the term "Mail "

In Internet Explorer click on Help > About Internet Explorer.

If you are running IE 7 and the menus are not showing right click in a blank area to the left of the Home icon and check 'Menu Bar'.
