I have a friend who is running XP but wants to go back to 98 and has a third drive full with music partitioned NTFS. Can he make it Fat32 without loosing the data?

There are a number of solutions to this---some easy and some not so.

You could convert the drive back to FAT32 with Partition Magic 8, but there may be easier and less expensive methods.

Copying the contents of the drive to CD would be a good backup plan, anyway, unless the number of CD's is prohibitively large.

The free version of this app at SysInternals will let you read NTFS drives from Win98. Read-only is probably enough for this if you can copy all of the data drive to the system drive, reformat the NTFS volume as FAT32, and then return the data.

The pay version allows reads and writes to NTFS partitions from Win98.
