When formatting a new HD to install XP Professional, does it make a difference if I select FAT32 or NTFS? I chose FAT32 and now I am wondering if I messed up by doing so b/c I have seen references to NTFS in other websites. Also, is it possible to change the HD's format to NTFS since I have not yet installed anything in it? Thanks!

you can change to ntfs anytime even after installing progs...
it won't damage the progs..but if you want to get back to fat32 [can't think why] you'll have to reformat etc..and lose everything

    FAT32 or NTFS?

    Thanks Smokey!!
I have just been reading about all the great security benefits of NTFS vs FAT32.
However, is there a way to make the change to NTFS BEFORE I install anything onto that HD? (it is blank at the moment) Could I make the change to NTFS via some sort of bootdisk-floppy, executable DOS program, etc?(Would the "convert C: /fs:ntfs [/v]" command work? :D Thanks!!!
