Hard to know how much of a newsgroup message winds up on my harddrives, but I certainly don't want to give them all shelfspace. Neither do I want to delete one message (header?) at a time, which is the only option offered me, even when I select all headers. How can I clean the board? How do I query Nscape as to where it's storing newsgroup messages/headers?

    Hi huitre,

You can view Newsgroups on your HD by navigating to your: ~\Profiles\profilename\*.slt\News Folder
Click on the Newsgroup folder you have subscribed to, and there you will see the size of the MSF files, which contain the NG header information. You can delete the MSF files, which will of course lose any custom settings you may have created. It will reduce the size of the News folder, and save HD space, if that is your intent.

Unlike eMail, there's no way to delete NG messages you have read. The Disk Space settings you select will cause the system to automatically delete any messages, using the number of days you selected, after it is downloaded, so in essence the system maintains itself without you needing to delete messages that you have read.

    To check those settings:
    Open the Mail Window
Edit | Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings
    Click on the Newsgroup Name
Click on Offline & Disk Space
Under: "When it's time to clean up messages
You can determine the number of days you wish to keep unread messages there.

You can also set the number of messages to be downloaded here:
Edit | Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings | Server Settings

The messages you have sent to a Newsgroup are stored in Local Folders.

Let us know if you have more questions.
