Ns7.o Constant Shutdown By Illegal Operation Window

Have installed NS7.0 dozen times, and
still constantly shut down by Illegal
Operation Window with XCOM.DLL o17f
error. In fact this is 4 attempt to
get this message written without being
shut down. HELP

Hi George,

Let's start with the basics, in order to troubleshoot your XPCOM.DLL errors:

Close Netscape
Open Windows Explorer
Browse to your profile directory
Delete the following files:
history.dat
history.mab
panacea.dat
Cache folder
Chrome folder
All msf files in \Mail\ and \News\
Restart Netscape

If you find no joy: Create a new profile with the Profile Manager, as most xpcom.dll problems are individual profile problems.

Another approach is to download xpcom.xpi. The file could have become corrupt during the install of Netscape 7.

Are you by chance running Windows XP?

Thanks Ramona, I followed your instructions and used a clean install and
everything worked fine until I installed
Mailwasher and the same problems
returned very quiclkly, now I realize this
happened after my first install of 7.0 followed by Mailwasher. Apparently there is a conflict. I am using Windows 98 SE so now its back to the drawing board, would be interested in hearing if
others have experienced this problerm
with Mailwasher.

josiebb I used Mailwasher with NS 7.0 and win98se for a long time and never had a conflict. Sorry I cannot give any more advice but I don't think it is Mailwasher. Are you useing ver 1.33? If not I would try it as it is the most stable.

Thanks for your feedback, I will try it again, the worst that can happen is I have delete and reinstall Net 7.0 again
