OK, OK I know I'm on the wrong board entirely, but I still know of no better place for NS advise... ;)

What I'm wondering is if I used the "streamlined" version for Mac will I still have Java... I do want that, and there are no plugin for it on Sun's site.
Mac generally uses MRJ (Macintosh Runtime for Java) which is separate from Netscape.

There are the Mozilla plugins, which I've been using on NS4.76 with good results.

Failing that is a full install of NS6.2.3 "customizable" as in do you have the choice of a custom install... I don't want RealPlayer, Stuffit yada, yada installed with it... I haven't looked at the the download yet, but AIM was always easy to get rid of on Mac... you just trash the module and when it asks for the disk tell it to skip it.

Can I run both NS4.76 and NS6.2.3 on the same system, of course not together both at the same time!

It will not contain Java plugin if you use the streamlined version of it.

For the most part, it has a custom install where you can remove the things that you don't want installed, the exception is with AIM, since the have tied it into the email now. You can always remove it later by deleting the install directory/folder, which I did on both my Linux box and my Windows box.

I would suggest if you are going to go with the full install, to use the Netscape 7.0 pr1. It is much more stable and smoother than the 6.2.3 version.

If you are not going to use it for email, then I would actually suggest using Mozilla 1.0 (there is not a spellchecker available for the Mac version yet), as it comes with almost nothing extra and the few things it does have you can elect not to install.
