    Here's the situation:

    New Home built 'puter,
    Asus P4S8X, P4 2.53 Mhz, 512 megs ram.
Everything about this machine is great.

Loaded 7.01, I like everthing fine , except mail does not work.
    Cannot send mail to anybody.
I was able to download mail from previous cox.net account and still
    can.
With 1 mouse click nothing would happen.
With 2 mouse clicks it would open new window. However there
would be no text in the body of the email, just a blank page.

I also could not delete the messages in inbox or any other folder.

I uninstalled 7.01 and installed 4.8, in which I was able to access
    my normal mail account.

I uninstalled 7.01, installed 7.02, still the same result.
Mostly I have resorted to 4.8 to do everything.

I have not, for good or bad, set up separate user profiles as I
am the only user in my house.

Could anybody out there steer me in the right direction to set
    this up to work properly?

Any and all help much appreciated.

    Welcome to the Forum, jtilla!

    Hi jtilla,

How frustrating, with a brand spankin' new PC, and ready to blaze across the Internet!

    Troubleshooting first:

If you are using any Theme other than Modern, please revert to Modern

In Mail & Newsgroups Account Settings | Server Settings
Disable: "Empty Trash on Exit "

    With Netscape closed:
Browse to your Mail Account Folder and delete all files with an MSF extension. DO NOT delete files without this extension.

Post back and let us know if any of the above worked for you.

    Ramona :D

Hi Ramona, thanks for your quick reply.
    So far - no go.

I am using the default Theme, however I will change to Modern.
    And reboot for "S & G's ".

"empty trash on Exit" is already disabled. Still, the same as before.

In Mail window under Edit>Mail & Newsgroups Settings....
Make sure, that in "Server settings ", and "Outgoing server(SMTP), "user name ", and "server name" are exactly same.
    Can you receive e-mail?
"I also could not delete the messages in inbox or any other folder. "
Go to your ISP web site, then to mail, and delete messages from there. Maybe one of them is "stuck" there.

    jtilla,

    The default Theme is modern.

Mail & Newsgroups Account | Server Settings, ensure that the "Local Directory" setting points to the correct folder.
Enable: "When Netscape starts up Open "
    Navigator
    Mail & Newsgroups
Include the -browser -mail command switches to your Netscape icon Properties

Configure Mail Check Time Interval for every 10 minutes
    OR
    Deactivate the automatic mail check.
    Edit|Mail & Newsgroup Account Settings|Server Settings
    Disable
"check for new mail at startup ", and
"check for new messages every XX minutes "
That way, you only check mail when you select "Get Messages" from the
    GUI. No auto-checks will occur.

If still no joy, then I believe you will need to create a new Profile. Here is how:
    Create a New Profile

    Thanks to broni and Ramona,

I had a lengthy reply to both your suggestions, but when I set up a new user profile, that seemed to do the trick.
    Thanks again :)

BTW, I also think she is, to quote Billy Cristal, "mavelous ". I've been reading her answers for a long time in this and several other forums over the years, Here and especially the one that preceeded this one. A shame it was hacked to death. I much appreciate everything I've learned from her. That also is meant for everybody that frequents this forum.
    Thank to you all.

    Hi Jtilla,

Thank you so much for the lovely comments! Let me guess that you were a NoWonder member at one time? That's where I got my start on Technical Forums.
