NS 6.2.1 & Smart Update

    I used to find Netscape's Smart Update feature extremely useful in 4.x, but it doesn't seem to be available in 6.2.1. I inevitably wind up at the "Download NS 6" page where I am informed that I already have 6.2.1. Does anyone know if this is just "reduced funtionality" in 6.2.1, or a quirk unique to my own installation?

    Hi billwilliams, and welcome to the Forum!

    SmartUpdate is a feature unique to Netscape Communicator. You cannot upgrade from Communicator to Netscape 6, using SmartUpdate. Netscape 6 is a new browser and does not replace Communicator.

    To answer your question, it's not available in 6.2.1, and no, it's not a quirk in your system. :)

    Thanks for confirming my suspicions, Ramona. Too bad -- SmartUpdate was a nice feature. Maybe they'll bring it back.
