I'm using IE 6.0 w/ Win XP and Outlook Express. In order to see if I have mail waiting, I log on IE, click on the mail icon in the tool bar, and then click on "read mail ".

Question: Is there a way to set IE so that as soon as I log on it checks the mail without having to go through these extra 2 processes?

I used to use Netscape and it checked for mail automatically.

    Comments are appreciated.

Locate your msimn.exe file, which is usually at C:\Program Files\Outlook Express\msimn.exe and create a shortcut to it. Place that shortcut in your Startup folder, which is usually at C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Start Menu\Programs\Startup.

That will load the MailBox at Windows boot.

Then in the OE mailbox, click TOOLS > OPTIONS > and tag any boxes that appeal to you. You have a wide range of selections that will cover nearly anything you like. I enjoy the audible notification and also have mine to check every 5 minutes. Name your own poison and enjoy.

    Good luck.
