Notebook desktop screen

    I have a notebook running Win XP and when its in the docking station which is attached to a monitor i have my icons placed a certain way on the screen. many icons...
    when i undock the notebook and turn it on, my icons on the notebook LCD screen have moved all over the screen and they are not in the same spot as before.

    how can i have the icons not move when i'm using the external monitor with the dock and when i'm un docked and using the LCD screen of the notebook.

    I have experienced the same problem when connecting the laptop to a digital projector - the desktop icons become randomely scattered across the screen.

    My workaround is to use a small program .....
