Hello, I have win98SE installed on a computer and now I cannot visualize any jpeg files, all started when I removed a program to which those files were associated, now whenener I try to visualize any jpeg files the windows says that cannot fintd he program to open them, is there any way to solve the problem without having to install that program again or reinstall the windows?

Use explorer.exe (windowskey-e), click folders button and open view tab > folder options > file types tab and in windw listing the types tap j to skip to jpeg. Use the edit button and highlight open in the window and click edit. Click the browse button in the small "Editing action for type jpeg" window and choose the program that you want to open jpeg files. Then OK out.

It would be well to pick the program in advance so you can browse to it quickly. Windows needs a graphics program to open pictures. Paint/ MSpaint is included and works well.

Another way to reassociate files (and one that I find easier than messing around in File Types) is to right click a jpg, point the cursor at Open With and in the menu that opens, click "Choose Program. "

In the list that opens, click once on the program you want to open all jpg files, check the box at the bottom for "Always use the selected program to open this type of file," click OK.
