I am interested in replacing my MEDIA PLAYER for what I use now which is Windows Media Player. Not really too crazy about it. Many years ago I used a software called Jukebox something with my Win95. I want the player to play music and to be able to burn a new music CD. Do you have any suggestions as to some other software? My computer uses XP on a Dell Dimension. Thanks

First of all, what exactly don't you dig about WMP? What version is it? Version 10 is better than version 9, but version 11 may not be. I still use version 10 on XP, version 11 on Vista. Perhaps a few pointers from us and you may end up pleased with WMP 10.

    Try using VLC player

    Hello,

You have not mentioned why you do not like media player. If you donot like the interface or would like something more flashy, then i guess you could try winamp or something similar.

However, if you want more features and built in codecs, you could try VLC:
    http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

It has a lot of cool features and can play almost any audio/video format.

    MM10 is available at

    http://www.oldapps.com

    if you have a key.

I am a fan of MM10, and wish someone would wrest the code away from Yahoo. It was best for ID-3 tagging

But, in truth, WMP 10 is good in WinXP, and WMP11 is super good in Vista. It does require some configuration to get it to look and act the way you want; but, in the end, it is worth it, for syncing, for Id-3 tagging, and for ripping. For burning, I always used the Roxio software that I got for free with my PC. WMP11 is not so hot in WinXP.

I also use Winamp, and RealPlayer, both in paid versions, because they noth do a better job with internet audio stream from Live365, Shoutcast, and U.S. Public Radio. WMP sort of ***** at internet audio streams.

All are good at handling a library and playing your files.

This is one of my areas of great interest.
