Not sure if this is where I should be posting but...

Since I had my computer reformatted, I haven't been able to get any sound from my speakers, nor have I been able to use my mic. I have opened up the volume controls and made sure nothing has been muted. What else can I do?

    Thanks!

Check device manager under sound devices for anything that might have a yellow exclamation mark. If you find something, highlight and click properties and try updating drivers. Also go to multimedia in control panel and check that the right sound device is chosen and settings look right.

P.S. I have a 98 system up and running now to refer to. :)

P.S.S. Glad you're up and running again but sorry to hear you ended up paying someone to format and reinstall for you. After reading your other post, I beleive you did everything right and the install was good, and all you needed was some drivers reinstalled (which happens sometimes) and the guy just wanted to get into your pocket a little deeper.

Congrats on your 98 system! Now you'll know exactly what I'm talking about when something else screws up! hehe

Would you believe I put the speakers in the wrong hole? What a maroooon! I have two sets of 3 sets of plugs, not sure why! DUH@me for not realizing earlier. Can I delete my post so noone else will know how close I am to losing it? lol

It's unfortunate that I had to pay someone but I guess atleast I'm assured that he did it correctly, since he's the pro! I don't think he even used my drivers, he had a disk of his own with everything in it. Oh well...

I'm glad there are places like this where people actually help without expecting payment in return. You guys are great!
