    sutsujsti,

A few workarounds to have your mother-in-law try:

    1. Go to Earthlink's Webmail interface and delete all spam
    2. Exit Mozilla and Quick Launch, then delete the Inbox.msf file
    3. Open Netscape, and Compact Folders
    4. Check to see that the "Leave messages on server" option is disabled
    5. Temporarily disable the AV email scanning, and the Firewall

Let us know if any of the above help with the problem.

BTW, if an ISP Tech. doesn't know how to solve a problem, blaming the browser is the standard answer, especially in view of the fact that they don't support Mozilla...

I had the problem up to NS7.0. I could click on the header, and multiply it. Just for kicks, I kept down it, and getting at least a dozen headers. You would not see this at the website. I have no idea about a cause, but it can happens, and Ramona's solution is correct, but if this reoccurs too many times, it may not be a bad idea to remove the account, and then add it back. The old mail would remain on the hard drive, and the problem would not reoccur if the original Inbox is renamed, copy and pasted into the new account location.
But, don't even think about it, for now.

For a last ditch effort! when I go down to her house I will uninstall Everything! But for now I talked to her this morning and had her do all the stuff Ramona had sugested and see if that helps! The other day I walked her through archiving her email to CD and making a copy of her profile, the only thing I still need to have her do is export her bookmarks and address book so she has copys of everything! Thx all for the help, I will keep you posted

I see no reason for uninstalling everything (what do you mean by everything?).
But, if you decide to uninstall, Mozilla's latest version is 1.7.7, so I suggest that it be downloaded and installed.
Not knowing the complete past history almost anything could cause corruption of certain files, but let's not be too extreme.
The address book(s) should be exported as a .ldif file. It is easily imported in that form. and, the bookmarks.html file can be stored as it is. I have two profiles of NS7.2 which can use, alternately, other bookmarks files, which are not even located in the .slt folder.
As for tech support, the people there are not only not trained with anything but IE, but with my ISP, are not even supposed to discuss any issues with other browsers. It make their training simpler.
    But, good luck.

By everything I mean everything! But thats as a last resort! I will exhaust all other avenues first ! I dont think its a problem with mozilla, but I have been known to be wrong before, but I was mistaken Ha! Ha ! The history! it all began after my mother in law bought a new computer! and when she decided to start using it for getting her email! (She had been using windows 98 with netscape) so I had her down load the latest mozilla 1.7.5 and install it! this was a fresh install the only thing that was on it was IE.(that was not being used for anything) None of her old profile, bookmarks,or address book were brought from the old computer ( I have not goten that far yet) as far as I know all was fine! for the first month! and for the last 2 weeks she has not been getting all of her email, some will get through and some won't (very few get through) So yesterday I had her go download the latest V.1.7.7 and has started using it but so far all is the same, But I will keep you posted!

I was very much in doubt that a new program would fix things up, but a new profile should, or even something as simple as remiving the account, from the program, and putting it back. If all mail is set to remain on server, you should be able to see the most recent mail.

Well the things that everybody suggested Have helped ! But its still not right she said that she is getting more email but still not everything ! I had her turn off the junk mail controls, but all that did was let the junk mail in so thats working the way its suppose to. I will know more in a week when I get to sit in front of the computer thats having the trouble !

Let us know what happens. If the only junk mail controls are in Mozilla, it is just a nuisance to turn off the controls, but, it is also a nuisance to have the controls on, and have to fish into it for good stuff. But, there is no other choice.
I pick the second choice, and I set the Junk folder to be emptied every 24 hrs. to avoid an accumulation of Junk.

Hi all I just got back ! just thought I would let everybody know what happened with this prob. The problem is fixed! ( it must of been the browser fairy ) the trouble went away after about 20 calls to earthlink, but they said it was on our end! ya right! also I found that if I told them I was using Netscape they didn't have any trouble helping me! Now they did tell me that she had a bad install of sp2 (she couldn't edit her home page) and they could not fix that, so I did, and she can edit her home page now! Never thought a corrupt sp2 could stop a home page from being edited! but it did! So thanks all for the suggestions
