I have seen this particular message discussed in various forums but none of the solutions given have assisted me with this problem.

I had Microsoft Office Small Business installed. I also had Open Office installed. I uninstalled Open Office and then when I tried to open Word I got the message above.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Word. I have renamed the normal.dot file. I have renamed the registy files Data and Options. I have reinstalled Open Office in the hopes there there was something there that Word needed.

I ran the microsoft diagnostics and there was nothing found.

I would really like some fresh ideas on this if there are any out there.
You would think that Microsoft would have an idea.

If you do not have enough memory, then that is a hardware problem.
If, however, the problem is disk space related, then suggest you download and install this program (it's free) CCleaner ... Alternative Download.

    After installing...run the program
Before the first use, select Options > Advanced and UNCHECK "Only delete files in Windows Temp folder older than 48 hours "
Click on Analyzer...then click on Run Cleaner.

On the left side of the window, click on Registry...click on Scan for issues...click on Fix selected issues.

This program will cleanup your temp files and cookies.

    Hope this helps.

Yes, usually this error is caused by your TEMP file directory being full, or a mis-configured TEMP/TMP location (check System Properties > Advanced.
