I am unable to forward a link to anyone. I am using Cox.net for my e-mails and do not use the Outlook express.

I at one time thru error punched the "Make Outlook Express defalt.

Boy was that a mistake. When I returned to my Cox.net account every message I had saved had been erased. I can tell you I was not a happy camper.

I would like to use the link feature without screwing up again.

    Any help will be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Welcome to WindowsBBS;)

What happens when you attempt to forward a link?

Are you just coping the link and pasting it into an email?

I have Cox, and I use Mozilla Thunderbird as my default. with no problem.
You say that you do not use OE. What do you mean by saying that
Erased from where? What program were you using? Making OE default will do only one thing. It will open links in a browser with OE. Other than that, if you were using another program, you should be able to open it, and your mail will be there. You ca, also reverse the default choice, by making the choice in the program Options or Preferences.
If all fails contact Cox support, they are very good in Omaha, and Cox supports Thunderbird. But, check here, first, because you don't provide enough info.
And, why forwarding a link? You are stuck with the default choice, if you do that. It should work fine, doing it the way Steve R. described.

When I am on a web page I wish to share with another when I select file the "sent a link "
choice is light gray and cannot be used.

I am a novice and requested information on what might be wrong.

When you access your email via the Cox Webmail page in the browser, the Send Link function triggers the default email software installed on your computer, of which you have none set. The browser Webmail is not an email software program, it's a Web browser (Internet Explorer or Firefox).

Just copy+paste the link from the browser Address Bar into a new mail message.
