No, it is not a violation of Rule 6, as it is my own computer and I installed the OS. I just have never encountered the problem before and I realize that I can reinstall the OS, but I figure that I cannot be the only person who has had this problem. In actuality, through research at Microsoft, this is a common problem and they have written a white paper on it:

    http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;306214

I did not have the ability to make the disk as I have only one computer. I now know how to do it!

Actually this is covered under Rule # 6 but I digress. I reviewed the link you provided and I don't see anywhere where you need more than one computer to make a password recovery disk, although the computer does have to be a member of a domain. If your computer is a member of a domain I don't see why those instructions wouldn't work, but if your computer is not a member of a domain then I'm afraid you're out of luck.

You can only make a password recovery disk before you forget the password on the SAME system as you want to use it on. Read Create a Password Recovery Disk

Please do NOT post anymore on this subject.
