    Hello,
I am running Nortons system works on XP.
When I try to run Norton Disk Doctor I am given this message.
The operating system or another process, currently has exclusive access to this drive or some of its files. Norton Disk Doctor cannot continue to repair under these conditions. A repair can be sceduled to occur next time you restart the system.
I have restarted and tried again but with the same results. I also have AVG antivirus installed. Could this be causing a problem?
    Many thanks

A scan with repair option selected cannot be done on your system drive or any other drive that contains system items (as would one that held your pagefile if you moved it off the system drive) while the OS is running.

Normal behavior is to give that message and do the scan after a reboot but before the OS has loaded.

The chkdsk that ships with the OS will do the same if you select either the /f (fix) or /r (repair) switches.

Note that you can do a repair on a data drive while the system is runing since the scan isn't having to fight with the OS for control of certain files.

A better idea is to not run NDD with the repair function checked anyway.

It can cause more problems than it fixes.

Just for checking NDD can be run without the repair. Any needed repairs are best made by XPs own software.

What NDD sees as problem may not really be problem.

A little sad experience told me that.
