When I run the checking disk health, it begins rewriting in the directory structure section after it gets to HTML. It pauses a while on cookies and quarantined and after a short spell on HTML (20 seconds) it starts over again.

The Bubba--What version of Windows are you running? What year Norton Disk Health?
An idea here (it is the same for most years)

Have you tried running Windows own ScanDisk followed by Defragmenter? Seems as good as any for this purpose.
When you run any of these scans you have to be sure that no other program is running. That means close down other programs (using Control+Alt+Delete if necessary), screensaver, task scheduler, antivirus, etc. I even shut off my cable connection.

First, thanks for responding. I went to the link and followed some of their tips and finally after checking it and undoing some things, it scanned my computer properly. I can't tell you all the steps I took because it seemed like a dog chasing it's tail. Thanks again for the link.
