Yesterday I downloaded the latest version of BitTorrent (5.0). However, when I open the program I get a message from Norton Antivirus (Worm Protection) saying: Norton Internet Worm Protection has detected a remote system attempting to access your computer. I choose 'Permit', but the message returns continuously and won't go away unless I close the program. The previous version of BitTorrent had no such problem. Is there anything I can do to make Norton accept my 'permission' and get the message to disappear. I noticed, by the way, that a download did start even though the warning stayed on the desktop. Thank you.

    Hi Lugwalker,

From what I remember from NAV2005, Worm Protection can be toggled on/off. If you have a newer verision, I don't know if the same.

From the main panel > Options > protection (I think).

Once its disabled, NAV disables it for 15 minutes, then will re enable it. That can be changed.

I assume you know Bit Torrent has a bad reputation for malware.

    Regards - Charles

Thanks, Charles. That would indeed stop the pop-up message. The option is there in NAV 2005, as you said.

Regarding Bit Torrent, I scanned a downloaded file a few days ago and found that it contained a trojan, so you are correct there too. I uninstalled the program because I felt that it was more trouble than it was worth.

    Thanks again.

    Tom
