I am running XP, Internet Explorer 6 with 2002 Norton System Works installed. Each night before disconnecting from the internet I go into internet options, tools and clear history, delete files and delete cookies, I then run a live update with system works and download any updates then I run cleansweep. About 2 months ago I noticed cleansweep did not delete all internet history files. I went into Windows explorer and looked in the internet history folder and there were no files although they still showed in cleansweep. This wouldn't be so bad except the size of the internet history files not being deleted have been growing and are now up to 1.93mb and still they don't show up in the internet history folder in Windows explorer. I can't figure it out and need help to solve it. Thanks in advance for your help. Jack

    Just an Idea

    Hi

I used Norton Systemworks with 98se but when I moved to Xp I didn't install it as I had read about a lot of conflicts. That said I think Cleansweep is only removing the safe debris etc

As far as I remember you should go to clean sweep then Internet then Cookie Cleanup. There should be a list of cookies there. One thing they will not delete by ticking them as safety sweep is enabled. To disable this Saftey net ( leave this screen & go to main screen ) Click on Options at the top of the main Window - then click on Clean Sweep & disable Safety Sweep. REMEMBER to enable this once you have cleaned the cookies etc

Go back to the Internet section & Cookie clean - tick all you want to delete. You will be told they will not be backed up etc Just go ahead & remove all. You should then see a clean sheet.

Go back to Options & enable Saftey sweep ( just in case you clean up & forget that saftey sweep is not active )

Hope this is the answer you are looking for.

Thanks for the reply. There were 47 cookies there that I deleted. That was not the problem. When I open cleansweep, then open fast and safe cleanup, and go to settings it shows 37 files in internet history. When I open Windows explorer the Internet history is blank. I have been using Systemworks on this computer since last June and the problem only started about 2 months ago. Today the amount increased again to 1.96mb. Thanks again, Jack

    Found This

    Hi

Sorry the first way didn't solve anything. I have found the link on Symantec support which may just help you.
This bit is the full link - hopefully the hyper link will take you to the document.

    http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPOR...rch_solve.html&sone=ncs_2002_tasks.html&tpre=

    http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/cleansweep.nfs

You will have to go as there are two links from the page. These are the scenarios.
TMP files, Internet cache, and cookies are not removed when running Fast & Safe Cleanup, Cookie Cleanup, or Internet Cache Cleanup

    Situation:
When you run Fast & Safe Cleanup, Cookie Cleanup, or Internet Cache Cleanup, CleanSweep does not remove all TMP files, the Internet cache, and cookies. This occurs with any Web browser running under any operating system.

    Solution:
To pinpoint the cause of the problem, we have separated this document into two distinct, more specific documents. Please choose a document link based on what files you have noticed are not being removed.

If you notice that temporary or TMP files are not being removed, see the document TMP files are not removed when running Fast & Safe Cleanup.
If you notice that your Internet cache and cookies are not being removed, see the document Internet cache and cookies are not removed when running Fast & Safe Cleanup, Cookie Cleanup, or Internet Cache Cleanup.

If the link doesn't get you to the page. Go to support & put in Cleansweep 2002. Software issue & the list will be there. If you still can not find it - just ask again & I wll try to find the right path.
I am not thinking too clearly as I am going to the dentist !!!!!!
