I'm not sure what has changed. Earlier this morning, my outlook express is working just fine. As a note, I remember a norton internet security popup this morning concerning a program (may have been OE) attempting to connect to internet - which I think I choose always block. Not sure if this is related or not.

However, now when I start outlook express (version 6) I receive the following: "The host 'pop-server.nc.rr.com' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly. Account: 'pop-server.nc.rr.com', Server: 'pop-server.nc.rr.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 11004, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D "

After a lengthy conversation with my high speed provider (Time Warner road runner), I find if I disable Norton Internet Security (2005), my email works just fine - mean I connect to my mail server and can receive and send email.

Enable Norton Internet Security, Outlook express continues to fail with the above message.

My machine is Windows XP, SP2.

What the heck can I check? When you tell Norton Internet Security to always block a connection, where is this information kept - in case you made a mistake and want to undo one of the rules?

    Hope someone has some ideas.

    Thank you.

You should be able to find the "program list" that Norton is blocking in a matter of seconds. It should be real easy to find. Be bold, be adventerous....
