Hi All: Sometime last week, the summary window of Norton 2003 AV scheduled scan that had been running regularly at 4:00 AM lit up with virus detected  (sober N, I think I remember) and told me that the file had been deleted.

Ever since, the scheduled scan has not run. I went into Task Scheduler and checked all the settings, confusing, but they seemed to be OK, the scan still did not run.

Went back into Task Scheduler, played with the settings, some seem contradictory, anyhow, cannot make the darned thing run on schedule, and waiting till the next morning to see if it ran, the days have been going by.

I have run manual scans since, they come up with "0" detected. Ran sfc to see if something happened to task scheduler, no help.

It was installed as part of System Works 2003, I'd like not to have to uninstall and reinstall if I can avoid it.

Can anybody help me get this scheduled task to run? All replies will be appreciated.

    Take care,

    Martin

    Martin,

Not sure if it will help, but take a look at this page to see if it helps.

    Martin,

You're welcome and I look forward to the results. I wouldn't be so hard on yourself, sometimes it's just easier to go somewhere else first. Some of those manufacturer's sites aren't the easiest things to get around in.

Well, yes, now that I think about it, I have had a particular aversion to Symantic and their web site. I don't exactly remember the problems, but I have in the past tried to get help there and have come away frustrated with major negative impressions of their customer services.

The other site I have such problems with is Sonic, they make it a major undertaking and excersize in futility to try to get assistance and support of their very expensive software products.

You made Symantic easy for me and I am grateful. Just hoping that the fix works.

    Thanks again,

    Martin

Mike: Fix # 1 did not work, set password per fix #2, will post results.

Jim: Thanks for the link, as it now appears that my AutoUpdate for Norton AV is also on the fritz.

    Take care,

    Martin

    Good Morning All.

Mike: I'm happy to report that the password fix worked, and fixed both scheduled scan and automatic update. Thanks

Jim: Thanks for the link, I had used it before but had forgotten about it.

    Charles: Hey, neat, installed, thanks.

You all take care, have a great day :D
