I'm running WinXP Pro. When I started my computer this morning Norton Personal Firewall 2002 Alert Tracker took a very long time to startup. When it did finally start I suddenly got two Windows Messenger Icons in the notification area one was false because it disappeared when i ran the mouse arrow over it. But the other windows messenger icon doesn't automatically sign me in anymore. I went into the event viewer and got this message Norton Personal Firewall Proxy Service hung on startup. Error 7022. Did a system restore which was unsuccessful. Defragged unsuccessful. Uninstalled NPF and everthing started up fine(only one automatically signed Windows Messenger. icon). When I reinstalled NPF the problem returned. Any suggestions on how to correct this problem would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    Hello lj50,

Until you get this problem resolved, if you have not done so, enable XP's firewall: Start > run > type services.msc > scroll down to Internet Connection Firewall and double click > enable auto start in the properties dialog box.

    Regards - Charles
