I'm getting a PC shipped from my friend. This PC will have a better processer and such. Now my question is if i used Norton Ghost, will i be able to boot the copyed files on the new hard drive?

I know if you try to boot your Hard Drive in a different computer, you get a Blue Screen.

But if i were to do this
    Old Drive - > Data Cable(Comm, USB, Ethernet) - > New Drive

Will it boot up the installion fine or still blue screen?

If you are talking about an xp install on one hard drive and then ghosting that install to a drive on a different comp w/ different hardware, then yes, you will get errors unless boot in safe mode first, uninstall existing hardware drivers & install the new hardware drivers. However, you will-could also have an issue with Product Activation.

Thats the problem. I want to be able to reinstall windows but then it will say my computer is not geniune if i install it to another computer.

On this computer it's geniune. Is there a way i can Talk to microsoft so they know i am the only owner of the install cd? or do i have to **** out $100 for a new disc and product key?

The reason i know its not geniue is my friend lost his disc so he used mine and he had the problem but later uninstall it and bought a disc on his own.

The problem is that you can only have each licensed copy of WinXP installed on one system. If you transfer the license from one computer to another, you will have to reactivate. (That applies to retail WinXP, not sure if transfer of an OEM license is allowed.)
