    Good evening,
Please excuse me if this has been covered before - I'm clearly not seraching the right place if it has.
The problem: I noted a few weeks ago that my NAV icons were missing from my tray and then later realised that my auto protect wasn't working and neither was my email scanning. I tried resetting them, but they will not reset and remain off. I can run a manual virus scan as usual.
I made sure my NAV 2003 virus definitions were up to date and scanned, no virus detected . I then went to Trend Micro and did their scan, and again nil virus.
The only other things I have downloaded in the last month or so has been the Windows Updates and I wondered if possibly there might have been one them that affected Norton .
This was really insidious as I didn't note the loss of my automatic virus protection for some time - how long I'm not even sure. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Regards
    Rick

Just what I needed thank you very much Mike. I had to uninstall and reinstall but it seems to be Ok now. I would be interested to know what caused the problem so I can avoid it happening again. So far I have been very happy with this system and haven't had any problems with it at all apart from this.
    Thanks again for your help.
    Rick

    Rick,

You're welcome and glad to hear that things are back for you! I've had it happen a couple times before also. Never did figure out what made it happen. If you ever find out, post back.

I ran across something quite similar with NAV 2003 this past week. I noticed that the scheduled virus check had not run for about 3 days. The error message I received when I tried to re-schedule it also suggested to uninstall and then re-install. This was a problem in that I did not have a viable downloaded program to re-install. Luckily, in checking my paperwork I had purchased download insurance and was able to download again and re-install.

I had during that time frame downloaded a few Microsoft security updates. So, the culprit may have been Microsoft XP patches or Office XP patches. It could also have been NAV updates themselves as they do on occasion update their engine.
