    Hi folks,
Recently I received a worm which Norton caught and dispensed with succesfully. For a couple of days now I have noticed when booting up, that a small red sheild icon appears on the sys tray followed by a balloon telling me my anti-virus is turned off and to click to resolve it., but it is followed by the usual Norton icon which loads and sits next to the red shield for a few seconds which then disappears. All the right boxes are ticked in the Auto protect window which loads at start up. I am just wondering if some sort of worm or virus is still there and doing this or is it nothing to worry about.

    Thanks

    Ron

    Hello Ron,

I'm a believer in double checking security programs. Look into Ewido - it's a Anti-trojan.

The reference has instructions on where to download from it and how to set it up as a on demand backup scanner.

    Regards - Charles

Thanks to both Charles and Pete.

To solve the problem fully, just bought the latest version of Norton system works ie 2005 ver. and installed that. I will also install the Virus checker u suggested Charles as a back up.

So all is well and back to normal for the time being. Thanks again

    Ron :)
