when ever i run a full system scan from the norton console, I get this error:
"unable to open AntiVirus/Tasks/mycomp.ca, please make sure path and filename are correct
    3019,3 "

i figured out what is causing this but do not know how to fix this...
    --------
the file mycomp.ca is in a dirrectory called \norton antivirus\tasks\mycomp.ca

norton access this file using 'old style dos 8.3 filenames' BUT there is a space after exactly 6 characters 'NORTON ANTIVIRUS'
normally you could type \NORTON~1\ but due to space this does not work.

but i have another PC that works fine with \NORTON~1\. so how do i get WinXP to work properly using \NORTON~1\.

    ----------
    both PC's using WinXP pro

I had the same problem . The answer is in the online help
of Symantec. However sorry I do not remember what the specific answer was. Only that it was not big deal to repair.
Just go through the online question database on Symantec.
It is in the free area.
