My OS is Windows7, e-mail client is Windows Live Mail on 64 bit system.

I have sent an e-mail to a definitely incorrect address and I received no
notification of this. To be absolutely sure I sent another to a completely
rubbish address - still no notification.
Do I have an incorrect setting somewhere or is there something I can do to
ensure I am notified of a wrong address in future ?
I did not have this problem using Vista.

completely rubbish address - as in to an address where there is NO Internet Service Provider on the other end to tell you its a bad address?

Then again, I guess your ISP should tell you they can't deliver it. Who is your ISP and or are you using something like @gmail.com for your mail?

Your ISP could be catching the return mail and placing it in a spam type folder.

    Non returned incorrect e-mail address

    Thank you.

My ISP is Virgin Media. My e-mail suffix is @ntlworld.com

I sent the 'complete rubbish' e-mail to a known to me contact at @ntlworld.com
but with the name [prefix] jumbled up. I'm sure no one could have owned such
    an address.

pots, VirginMedia has Spam protection for their users email boxes. As non deliverable emails are used quite often to spread spam chances are it's being caught.

Have you checked your spam settings via Selfcare?

EDIT: Sorry Out Of Date information pots (it used to be called selfcare back in the days of Blueyonder).

You could try asking in VM's email help & support forum for assistance.

    Non returned incorrect e-mail address

    Thank you Wildfire.

I presume you are talking about Web Mail, via the Virgin Media Homepage.
I have tried every section of it including those under 4More.
    I will have a look at VM's e-mail help & support forum.
