No XP sound

    I've tried everything to get the sound to work since upgrading from win98 to XP. Nothing works. I've been told that I need a new sound card. Is that really true?

    What sound card do you have? Does Device Manager indicate whether the sound device is working?

    Any and all details will help. If you don't know what card you have, for example, telling us the make and model of your computer will help.
