Hello, I’m working on a friends PC and it seems as though he goofed a few times while trying to install SimCity. There was an issue with copying a file from disc, the file had to do with video card so he started trouble shooting that and started in the Bios… In the bios he switched the video setting from "auto" to what he thought was the new video card he had just installed (after doing this he could no longer gain access to the Bios). That didn’t work so he disabled the on board video and the card’s slot. HE was thinking that he was just disabling the drivers for the video card and on board graphics. Now when I try and boot the system the monitor will not turn on and the key board and mouse are not working either. I’m thinking he’s in pickle with this one, anyone have any ideas?

I though I would radmin to the machine but my laptop is not able to access the machine, seems the nic may be disabled as well. He has also attempted to reset the bios according the instructions obtained on Intel’s w/site..

    Thank you for your time.
    Have a great day..
    Shawn

Whatever he did to disable the on-board video will have to be reversed.

Even so, you should be getting some video from the MOBO video chip to display the POST screen and (assuming the keyboard works) allow you to gain access to the CMOS setup routine. If you aren't getting that video at boot, he has done some damage to the MOBO (possibly the BIOS chip) and will likely need a bench tech to determine what is wrong.

Check all connections and replace or reposition any jumpers that he may have changed or removed.

You can try removing the memory stick and it should give you access to the CMOS setup routine screen. Another method that works sometimes is to remove the battery for a couple of minutes, then replace it and power up. Then some MOBO's have a jumper that can be removed to clear the CMOS and reset it to default values.

    Good luck.
