No UPS tab in Power Options

We have a W2k SP5 server and the APC Smart-UPS 1000 is not communicating with the server. Instructions call the starting point to be a UPS tab in Power Options, but there is none there.

Hi Pete, no joy with those 2 links. The first is more informational than anything and the second is for a USB connection. Mine has a serial connection.

I have not been able to determine if the UPS tab should not show if W2k does not see a UPS connection? It's funny because the APC Power Chute program says that all is fine with Com1 and W2k says that Com1 is active and good, too. Yet, nada.

Maybe next should I disconnect the cable, reboot and then plug it in... or should I only do that with the server off? Thanks, Larry

 

Yes, I had done that first and didn't come up with much. Quite a few postings but no solutions.

Maybe APC is my next stop. Who knows, it could be a defective cable or something. Thanks again as always!
