no terminal icon in taskbar

i have tried all of the regular ways of putting the terminal icon in task bar .
i used administrator account to activate all of the settings and restarted the computer before connecting to internet.the only way i can see the terminal icon is to manually enable it everytime i connect.i have used the tools in ie6 and put a check box next to show terminal icon,i have used the network connection setting ....
they all work when i am on line but when i disconnect and reconnect i have to manually start the terminal icon again ,,, any suggestions

 

Make the changes and reboot before using anything which uses the setting. If you use something before you reboot, often it will replace the change with the original setting.

 

did that ....
i know something about building computers but need help sometimes
