No System Sounds only MP3, CD, DVD sounds work

Hi all...

I have been browsing the net for the past few days trying to find a solution to this problem...

None of my system sounds work or sound on the internet like youtube. But all other audio e.g. MP3s, CDs, DVDs etc work perfectly fine.

This has occured since i reformatted my hard drive and clean installed Windows XP Pro incl SP2 a couple of days ago. It seems to be a common problem, but I have had the same disk for about 4 years now and this has never happened before. I've had about 3 different computers during the time I have had my XP Pro disc and clean installed windows quite a few times and never encountered this problem this is why I am totally baffled.

My current computer specs are:

OS: XP PRO SP2
PROCESSOR: AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3800+
MEMORY: 2GB RAM
SOUND: Onboard Realtek HD Audio (ALC883)
MOTHERBOARD: MSI K9VGM-V (VIA K8M890 Chipset Based)

So far I have tried:

* Reinstalling the audio driver
* K-lIte Codec Pack Codec Tweak Tool
* Microsoft article 262256 (No Sounds events are played)
* Various registy tweaks ive come across on other forums
* Repairing windows
* Checking that the sounds are enabled etc. all settings are correct.
* Kelly's Corner

Where do I go form here???????

Hi thanks, Ive tried a few from there amnd I just tried the others on that page. Still no luck
