My brother has just bought a 2nd hand Lenova ThinkCentre M57 9181-A1M which has W7 Prem 32bit as the OS.
He can't get any sounds from the speakers ie. Startup / Shutdown tunes. No music from CD's.
What drivers would be used in this unit?
Audio is shown as High Definition (can't see AC'97 or Realtek mentioned anywhere).
Can't see any sound drivers in Device Manager.
He couldn't get any sense from Lenova/IBM and I think it's about 2006 model. Neil.

Did he look in Device Manager and see if there is a problem with Sounds?

Nothing showing in Device manager. The comp was originally set up with XP as the OS and the previous owner had wiped XP and installed W7.
I wonder whether it's lacking Drivers for the motherboard as I couldn't find any reference to Audio drivers on the Lenova site.
My brother couldn't get onto the internet when he first tried, so he contacted the previous owner who said it was working on Ethernet only. It had no Wireless connectivity so I suggested he use a Wireless adapter which he bought and installed and got the unit active on the web.
I believe it downloaded about 70 odd updates from MS. Neil.

The OS seems to have fixed itself with updates from MS. He now has sound and can operate on the Internet with his Wireless Adapter.
The Lenova system posted a message giving him a link to Download LAN drivers but they wouldn't install as I think they were incompatible with W7.
Thanks to contributors. I will close this Thread. Neil.
