I have sound from the back of the computer on the speakers but when I plug in a usb head set the sound still comes from the speakers and not the head set. I have tried the head set on another PC and they work fine and when I plug them in to the other PC the sound automatically comes from the head set.. Any ideas what's going on ?

The PC I am on that is having the issue is not the one listed in My System..

Ok doing that made the headphones work but as soon as I unplugged the headphones no sound from speakers. Do I always have to go in and switch it every time ? on my laptop it does it automatically with out going into settings and its a windows 10 laptop..

You have to make the speakers the default audio device after unplugging the headphones and then Windows should remember your settings and switch between those devices in the future automatically when they are plugged in.

That's the problem its not doing that. I have to keep going back into settings and change it every time I go back and forth between the 2.. It started doing this after I upgraded to windows 10 last month..

Ok I did that and now I get a error message saying
Windows has detected that audio enhancements for the fallowing devices are causing problems
    Speakers (VIA HD Audio)
Would you like to disable driver enhancements for this device ?

So I click yes and once I plug my head set in the sound still only comes the speakers and when I click on playback devices in volume it says no play back devices found..

It might help if you give us the FULL specs of the comp that you are having the trouble with.
Please also tell us the EXACT state this comp was in before the W10 Upgrade. Neil.

The computer was working fine before the upgrade no issues at all.. sound worked great and you did not have to switch between the USB headset and speakers every time like you do now. Also in programs and features Realtek is listed as audio.

I thought you were using Realtek HD Audio as your audio device.

Are you using Realtek HD Audio or VIA HD Audio? These are two different audio devices so I need to know which one your computer uses.

Click Start< type Device Manager in the Start search box and click Device Manager in the search results. When Device Manager opens, expand the Sound, video, and game controllers category and post a screenshot of that category in your next reply.

It was Realtek before I had all the issues and Realtek is in my programs and features section. So I am not understanding where that other one is coming from. I will post a screen shot in my next reply

Can you also post a screenshot of the Sound window< Playback tab so I can see what audio device your speakers are using?
