I replaced my power source on my own, and ever since then, my sound no longer works. My computer says it can't read the sound card or there isn't one.

I went through all the "no sound" troubleshooting suggestions and nothing fixed the problem. Several suggestions said to click on the "Game Controllers" icon. I don't have a "Game Controllers" section anywhere in my control panel/settings...maybe that has something to do with the sound card???

I think I didn't plug something in right when I replaced the power source. I don't know what my sound card looks like to see if I have something plugged into it (if that's a possiblity) to make it work. There are extra plugs just dangling from my power source. The guy at the computer store said I only needed to use one or two plugs to get things working, and that the rest were unneeded.

Any suggestions??? Am I totally missing something here? I can't see any places where any of my dangling plugs could be plugged in.

    Thank you bunches!

It's not unusual to have extra power supply plugs. If everything exept the sound card works, then you got everything plugged in.

It may be that the sound card just got jogged loose during the power supply replacemnt. Open the case, remove the sound card and reseat it back into the same slot. See if that solves the problem.

Make sure the speakers are still plugged into the correct port on the sound card, as well.
