I am fixing my freinds computer. But i cannot view any web pages.

I connect the dsl and it won't show any pages. On mine when i connect it shows loads of pages.

i've already tried pinging, doesn't work. this is what i get

    C:/>ping yahoo.com
    Unknown Host yahoo.com

    C:/>

It does have an EnterNet 300 and i do use that to connect also but still no results. The Eternet Modem is installed and Running. There were viruses and Spyware i took out with AntiVir 6 Personal Edition and Microsoft AntiSpyware Beta1

Is there any way to fix this?

Try downloading LSPFix to a machine that can reach the internet and putting it on the problem machine then running it.

Not uncommon to break TCP/IP when fixing some of these problems.

    hi out there
A simple test to locate the problem could also be to interconnect your pc and the buggy one with a crossovercable between the network-adapters (I dont know what a enternet 300 is but I expect it is a ethernet adapter) and let the default config for dhcp be activated. Let the dhcp negotiating fase time-out and the PC will automatically assign theselfs a set of ip-adresses by APIPA (if not disabled - but probably not.) - verify the IP settings with ipconfig /all and try a simple ping to the remote pc. If this works most of you basic ip networking is up and run. Could then be some weird proxy settings ? If not - back to previous suggestion from newt or re-install the tcp-ip stack (before you try this - verify the bindings for the tcp-ip stack on the adapter etc - also verify the advanced settings you can find from the menu bar on the network control panel - often forgotten) - buggy hw ?? a defect eth card is rare - but could also therefore be hard to find because it is the last one to suspect -> trace from other pc with f.ex. ethereal or simply swap the network cards to se if your pc then "stops working" - if you dare.
    regards /ti
