Hi, I got hold of a second hand Panasonic ju-811t012 Zip drive, as I was about to install it I noticed that there was no No.1 pin marked on the IDE socket at the back of the Zip drive. Can anybody HELP me out here Please?

I have never seen it fail that the #1 IDE pin is on the end of the connector nearest the 4-pin power input connector.

I have put them on incorrectly several times without harming anything but the normal disclaimers apply.

    Hi,
Tried connecting that way but computer would not boot up.
    Q. Does the Zip drive connect to the floppy controller or to the hard drive controller. I have tried various sites for this info but with on success. HELP!

The only thing that plugs into the FDC is the floppy.

The Primary IDE cable has the HDD pluggedin to the end and is master. If you have another HDD then plug it in as a slave on the same cable about six inches from the end that is used by the master.

The secondary IDE controller cable is plugged in your CD Drive as the master and the Zip drive as the slave.

Some manufacturers have the pin one of the FDD next to the pwr plug. Some are not. Probably pin 1 is the one closest to the FDD motor (round thing sticking out the back). If you plug it in upside down, the floppy light stays on all the time. Just turn it over, probably no harm done.
