When I installed IE9 yesterday, one of the first things I noticed was that there was no Menu bar. With earlier versions of IE, I had always used the Menu bar to get at Tools to get to Windows Update. Updating can be done through Control Panel, but using a toolbar would be so much more convenient.

I Googled the issue and learned that pressing the Alt key toggles the IE9 Menu bar on an off. With the Menu bar open, click on View. A menu opens and when you hover your cursor over Toolbars you'll see a list of toolbars to choose from. I clicked on Menu bar, Favorites bar, Command bar, and Status bar. Now I'm happy.

Hi Bobbo. In IE9 and in IE8 when you first install the browser and run it for the first time the menu bar is always hidden by default. You have to enable it manually as you already found out.

You can also right click atop the browser and add/remove items.
