Hello all...I am from Ontario Canada and I'll bet most of you can tell what i do :) Firstly..thank you to Arie for the warm welcome.. I searched through various sites and came across a problem that a person was having and it is very similar to what i am experiencing. The person who posted this is at this url http://www.windowsbbs.com/windows-vista/82460-vista-home-premium-x64-installing-itunes-solution.html

Im not sure how to post all relevant info I have in my profile but it is all in there and I will try and breifly explain what has happened to me. I did read that his post was more than 30 days old so if im posting this in the wrong place i do appologize.

I did a clean install of win 7 just a few days ago and was successful in updating all my drivers and programs. well not quite...i have had no luck at all installing windows live essentials or Java on my system. I continually receive windows installer error message 2203 on both installs ...I have done all the usuall start and stop of windows installer service and tried to run the clean up utility but also got a 2203 error message on that as well. I had this installed on an older computer a while back and all was fine so Im at a loss as how to resolve this issue. Can someone please help me out..Jazcan's post was the post I was refering to above and I would like to thank him on posting how he resolved his issue..If I dig down into the registry to where he suggests all I can find are the following:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSIServer
    Error Control D Word 0x00000001 (1)
Services ID Type Dword 0x00000001 (1)

Does jazcan himsef or any one else know if i would have to alter one, both or none of these registry settings. Sorry for the long post but Im hoping this site will get me on my way to finding an answer to my problem

Download both items and save to disk.
Try disabling UAC and then install.

    a. Access User Control Panel from Start Menu -> Control Panel -> User Accounts and Family Safety -> User Account

    b. Click on User Account Control settings link.

    c. Move the Slider to Never Notify.

    d. Click OK to make the change effective.

    e. Reboot.

  3. to hide this advert.

Hi TonyT..Thankyou for the reply...I did as you suggested and after downloading and saving to disk i right clicked on the files(each done seperately) and ran as administrator. I still received the 2203 error.

    Hello FR8LINER,

I've seen a lot of references mentioning a temp environment variable change that caused problems:
    http://www.antonsen.net/?p=27

    http://www.sevenforums.com/general-...installer-cant-install-any-msi-package-7.html
    -------------------------

    Installer CleanUp Utility:

    * Download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility from this site: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301

    * Start the utility. (Click Start, click All Programs and then click Windows Install Clean Up.

    * On the list of Installed Products, select all instances that have (All Users) Windows Live on it. To make sure that you are removing the right programs, click on one item at a time then click on the Remove button until all entries with (All Users) Windows Live are deleted from the list.

    * Click "Exit. "

    2. Restart your computer to make sure that all changes made will take effect.

    3. Install the latest version of the Windows Live Programs from the Windows Live Essentials website: http://download.live.com

Try installing one component rather than the whole kit and caboodle.

I did this when I installed Live writer. I noticed It offered to install all the Live essentials programs but they could checked or unchecked from a list as desired. This writer still came with baggage such as live sign in assistant and something else. Also tried to install silverlight, change my homepage etc.....had to babysit this install. What a nuisance for an application I just uninstalled 10 minutes later. I did all this via control panel, removed ALL components mentioning "Live ", that is.

    ------------------

msi installer "could-be "....service "startup" or a "restart" should be checked, at least:

    --------------------

Java.....download a manual offline installation version. Makes sue it is for 64 bit ot 32/64 bit depending what your os specs are. I believe you specs mentioned this.
