I built a PC for my cousin about a month back with WinME on it. Well now it's getting hooked to ADSL through a home LAN in a couple of days so I'm gonna need to get this problem fixed. The problem is, I set up a username with Microsoft Networking, and it never asks to logon when Windows boots. It logs onto the default username (which I know from experience can't access anything on a LAN). And if I logoff, it asks me for a user/pass to log on to MS Networking. Fair enough. If I put that in and click OK, it then asks me for a user for Windows Family Logon... I've tried every solution I found, even a reinstall (Windows once had the brilliant idea of completely failing to recognise the CD drive :D ).

    This is so confusing...

Try this. Go into Control Panel\Network, change the logon type to "Windows Logon ".
Then using Windows Explorer, look in the windows folder, and delete all PWL files. Reboot, and you will be prompted to login, creating a new PWL in the process.
