    Hi all.

I recently "accidentally" deleted my NVIDIA forceware drivers not including the graphics drivers.

I now can’t boot up the pc "obviously "....doh! It remains black after the boot up logo.

So here I am trying to get into safe mode and run system restore. The problem being is that I am getting no response at the safe mode login screen. I have tried using my normal day to day wireless mouse, a USB keyboard and a USB mouse. There is no connection for a PS/2 mouse only keyboard (which I have not tried yet).

Is there any way I can bypass the login screen? If not have you guys got any ideas?

    Thanks

You will need to use the PS/2 keyboard and navigate with the arrow keys.
Even though you have removed the chipset drivers I would still expect the PC to boot - after all they cannot be installed untill after the OS has been installed. You may have other problems following your deletions.

Nice one PeteC. I shall borrow a PS/2 keyboard from work this weekend and give it a try.

Thanks for the quick response :)

I am wondering exactly what you deleted and how - as I said before simply uninstalling the nVidia chipset drivers would not prevent the computer from booting.

Have a look in BIOS and see if USB Legacy Support is disabled - if it is enable it and try the USB keyboard & mouse.

Under Boot settings check the settings for Halt On - All Errors is the usual default and if the PS/2 keyboard is not recognised ther should be a message to that effect.

Perhaps also looking at your graphics setup.

Is it possible you have both onboard graphics as well as an addon card?

Your computer could be booting fine but using an alternative adapter causing the monitor to blank out after POST
