Try Control Panel > Internet Options > Advanced tab. Scroll down to look for Java and tick it. Requires restart.

If that doesn't work go to Java.com to download or test your Java VM.

    Thanks leeleleelee,

I did go to Control Panel > Internet Options > Advanced tab, but i did not find anything with Java in it.
so i went to java.com and downloded Java.
I guess windows xp does not install java.
I did a complete re install of windows and so my old Java was gone.
    Thanks again
    Sven

Get Java and maybe an idea why you don't have it. Purely a matter of timing since XP did and did not have the M$ Java version included depending on exactly when your install CD was burned.

BTW - I run both the Microsoft and Sun versions at the same time with no problems.

Microsoft Java settings, if you have them, are in IE Tools|Internet Options|Security tab|Custom Level|Microsoft VM (Virtual Machine) section.
Early versions of WinXP came with MSVM, but then because of the patent situation it was not part of later versions.
You still can get it (v3810), however, here
    http://www.softpedia.com/public/cat/10/18/10-18-20.shtml
The Java link above will also work, but it involves a two step process (using the Windows Update site) to get to v 3810.
