    Hi,

I recently installed Windows 7 Pro on my laptop. This was a clean install on a new partition (still have my WinXP on a different partition). When I connect to a network, either at home via router or on the LAN at work, everything works fine but for some reason Windows displays a message in my taskbar saying "No Internet Access." Windows seems to be detecting the network correctly (i.e. home, work) but always displays this message even though I can connect to the Internet with no problems whatsoever.

Is there a way to get Windows to "see" that I in fact do have access to the Internet and remove the error message?

    Thanks.

Is the message in the taskbar or the systray by your clock?
Wondering if maybe the message is coming from a wireless adaptor that isn't being used??

Sorry, my mistake. It's actually in the system tray. It's on the icon just before my volume control (it looks like a little monitor with a network cable next to it.) When I put my cursor over the icon, I see "Network" and "No Internet Access" in italics just below that.

That;s what I though. Odds are the machine has a wireless adaptor that isn't being used and that's the icon for it. Am sure someone with Win 7 can outline the steps to make the icon go away.

That would make sense, since I believe I only get the error when I'm plugged in and not when I have my WiFi adapter enabled.

Since you do use the WiFi - I'd leave it alone....It can be hidden and or you can probably add the wired icon to show up too.

I'm actually not sure the message is related to WiFi now that it seems to have gone away after rebooting. I think what may be happening is that when I disconnect my wired connection (either home or work) and shut down my laptop to standby mode, the next time I plug in, Windows doesn't correctly detect that I have access to the Internet.
