The past month or so this has been going on. I only have firefox and IE on my pc, and I'll be able to browse and do whatever. After a little bit (anywhere from 5 minutes to an hour) I'll no longer be able to browse webpages. No connection.

Meanwhile, I'll be able to connect to ventrilo, AIM, Steam, or any online game. I've tried winsockfix, no luck. The only way I'm able to get back online is by unplugging my router and my modem for a few minutes, but then after viewing like 2 websites, bam! Can't connect anymore, meanwhile I'll be talking to someone in ventrilo.

The only way I'm able to get online is because another PC in my house has AOL.

Another note: I reformatted my PC 4 nights ago, so it's been happening pre-reformat and afterwards. I'm using cable aswell. I'm just out of ideas.

Tried, nothing. None of this is making sense. Once my browsers stop working, my PS3 won't connect to the internet neither, although... I can still be on ventrilo or an online PC game.

Are you connected wirelessly to the internet or do you have a wired/phyisical connection? If its wireless have you tried connecting to a different network? If its a wired connection can you make sure the cable isn't damaged in any way?

Have you tried right clicking on the network connection icon in the system tray and clicking repair? Have you also tried under the tools menu in internet exoplorer clicking diagnose connection problems and following the windows troubleshooter? Also download ATF cleaner to make sure there are no temporary internet files conflicting with anything and causing you problems. http://www.majorgeeks.com/ATF_Cleaner_d4949.html
