Hello, I've got a crazy problem that nobody can figure out so far. The problem is on my old Sony VAIO computer,I've lost my ability to surf the net, I have e-mail function but that's all. I've been on the phone with AOL techs, and they figure it is a browser problem, I've tried to put in a new browser, ie6 from a disk, no help. I have tried to reinstall AOL 7 from a disk, again, no help. The original problem started when I did something wrong un-plugging my external CD writer and shut down, when I re-booted all was lost, I ran the first aid program, it said I had lost my CD ROM, Modem Drives, and something else ( it was a while ago I forgot ), any way, to make a long story shorter, I ran some fixes, got most of it back,( but I had no system restore to earlier dates, they were gone.) What a mess, I don't have the original system restore disk, I was running an ME upgrade on it, any ideas would be great. Thanks, axman335

    Hiya and welcome

How many copies of wsock32.dll do you have?

Also, Click on Start>Find>Files, key in Hosts and press enter. You're looking for a file called just Hosts with no file extension. You'll find a file called Hosts.sam but that's not the problem. If you do find a file called just Hosts, rename it Hosts.old and then try the pages. Be sure to close all instances of IE before you retry the pages.

    Regards

    eddie
