Last night I made the unfortunate error of simultaneously attempting to install 14 Microsoft updates (2 critical, 10 non-critical, and 2 hardware updates) simultaneously with two large Apple iPhone and iTunes updates. After restarting, I see the BSOD with DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL problem (STOP: 0xD1).

To compound the problem, my AMD PC with a pair of SATA drives does not respond to any keyboard commands to include:

DELETE = unable to open BIOS
F8 = unable to enter Safe Mode
Any key = unable to boot from Windows XP CD

15 consecutive failures to load windows despite an overnight rest. Any suggestions amigos?

Well, the only observation I'd make is to try another keyboard (PS2 in place of USB?). If you can't use the keyboard to access the above you are SOL.

The PS/2 Keyboard did the trick

    Thanks Arie

I am definitely keeping that old keyboard around in case another hiccup occurs. Everything works great after I restored my system and installed the updates in groups rather than all at once.

    Happy in Los Angeles
