    I haven't been able to hear any audio from any QuickTime streaming files. Even when I download them and try to play them from my harddrive. I just downloaded the new 7.1 ver., but still no results. My soundcard is an Aardvark Q10 that uses the CDFS(?) as it's sound driver, but my RealAudio app works fine.

    Hep Me, Hep Me,
    KC:confused:

    CDFS is CD File System. There should be a setting that should allow you to change audio playback. Select either primary audio device or something referencing your sound card.

    Tried it.

    I basically knew what CDFS was, I just couldn't remember exactly what it stood for. I went all thru QT's Audio settings and indeed vfd the one you pointed out, but still nothing comes out. I also just spent some time on Apple's forum for Windows QT 7. You'd be amazed at how many people have the same problem.

    Whatever with Apple,

    Is there anything in particular that you need QT for? You can use the QuickTime Alternative instead. That's what the app is called. It will play streams, it's basically QT without the Apple.

    QT Alt/MPC...Still No Audio

    I truly appreciate your help. I even went so far as to take Ramona's suggestion (NS & Mozilla moderator) to uninstall NS7.2 and use Firefox and all it's Add-On's and Ext. I know theoretically that should've had no bearing on Media Player Classic, but I needed to change over. I also went to the SourceForge pg. to see if there were any patches for MPC to address the No Audio issue but had no success. I've tried to render it to other file types. Again, I don't have any problems with RA or WMA type files in their respective players.

    I don't doubt that it plays them, and that I might have to tweak something in mine, so I'm not trying to be hard-headed or say my system is perfect...After all, it's Windows. However, if you could tell me some critical specs about your system, if you're getting good results, I'd like to hear them. If it'll help the website I'm trying to play these .mov files from is from the Muse Research page: "http://www.plugorama.com/customer/product.php?productid=523 ". Down at the bottom of the page there are 4 tutorial files that you can download or play directly from the site.

    Thanks in Advance,
    gplea

    I have to agree with DCrypter. QT (and Real Player, too) wants to hijack your file associations, phone home incessantly, and is a bear to get rid of completely. They both also insist on running in the background. If you leave either on your system it will always set itself up to run on boot, no matter what you try to do to prevent it. Talk about ego :mad:

    There are great alternatives though, and they are free:

    RP = http://www.free-codecs.com/download/Real_Alternative.htm

    QT = http://www.free-codecs.com/download/QuickTime_Alternative.htm

    If you hate intrusive programs like many of us do, just say no! :p :)
